We truly hope that this letter finds you safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. The CM Ranch has been a retreat from every day cares for generations of guests. It is our hope to continue this tradition despite the challenging obstacles caused by the Coronavirus.

Together with the Kemmerer Family, we spent significant time trying to develop a plan and procedures for the CM to operate this Summer, while providing the safest possible environment for our guests and employees. Through this planning, we came to realize that the experience we could provide would be very different from our traditions and the level of service that you, our guests, have come to expect. That would include not being able to greet you or send you away with a hug!

We have been watching what is happening in Wyoming and Fremont County, including directives from our Governor Mark Gordon. We have consulted the Dubois Medical Clinic, the hospital in Jackson, public health officials and other ranches. With new guests arriving each week living in close proximity, we would need a full day to thoroughly sanitize between turnovers, plus sanitize common spaces daily, regulate dining and social spacing [kids too?] and take temperatures daily.

One of the most important elements for consideration was how we would handle a case of Covid-19 on the CM Ranch. Under current guidelines, a suspected guest or employee case would go to the clinic in town or a nearby hospital, and anyone at the Ranch who was exposed to the person would need to be quarantined for 14 days. That could mean the entire Ranch would have to close for the season. It became clear that such an incident would put our guests and employees at risk.

While we would love nothing more than to welcome you as planned, it would go against the core values that make the CM such a magical place. It is with a heavy heart that we made the difficult decision not to open the CM Ranch for the Summer 2020 season. As painful as this decision was to make, we feel that safety must be our first priority. We consider you, our guests, as family, and had high hopes of providing you all with a timely, relaxing vacation on the ranch… with all it has to offer, including Bubba’s cooking. We are very sorry to disappoint you.

As you know, the CM Ranch has a long history of providing a true Western experience for our guests for 93 years. Please rest assured that we will continue to carry on the tradition of the CM Ranch in 2021. We will be reaching out to each of you during the next few weeks to handle reservations and deposits. Our hope is that you will be able to join us next Summer for your most memorable week yet! Expect a Newsletter or two to show you how we are surviving and missing you.

To all of our Wonderful Guests,

What strange and unpredictable times we are living in. We want to reach out to all of you and let you know that we are thinking about you during these very challenging times. There is nothing more important than the health and safety of our guests and crew.  We are hoping you and your family are doing well.

As all of you know, this is a very fluid situation that is changing on a daily basis.  We are hopeful that we will have a season and be able to welcome you as our guests this summer.   We are continually monitoring developments to make the best decisions regarding our summer guests, our crew and creating a healthy ranch environment.   We will do our absolute best to keep the lines of communication open to all of you.

Due to these unique circumstances, we have decided to adjust our cancellation policy for the 2020 season.  Cancellations made prior to 30 days out can either be refunded or rolled over to the following year.  We are focusing on a positive and timely resolution to all of this.

May God watch over us all and bless America.

New Year, Fresh Starts, Smooth Trails

The weather is warming (some days), and right about now you might be feeling that familiar draw toward your favorite place….the CM Ranch! From the peaks of mountain tops to the bottoms of our canyons, adventure is all around us.  Here’s a look at what’s been going on this winter.

Our horses get a nice long break during the winter. When we aren’t feeding, booking reservations, birthing calves, etc., we like to get out and enjoy the snow too!

Horseback pack trips have been a part of the CM Ranch’s rich history for decades. Ride horseback into our  base camp located in the Wind River mountain range, and enjoy rides to beautiful lakes and some of the best fishing Wyoming has to offer. As a new or returning guest, might you be interested in learning about the history and traditions of the CM Ranch?  This year, in commemoration of the 90^th Anniversary of the CM Ranch, we are publishing “The CM Ranch Cookbook, History and Traditions in Recipes, Lore and Photos”.  It tells the CM story, starting with JK Moore, Charlie Moore’s father, and continues to the current ownership and managers, the Kemmerers and the Sullivans.

If you have ever wanted some pages from old CM brochures or old pictures of the ranch, you will find them in the Cookbook.  Interspersed in the history and traditions are recipes, going back to the early 1900’s and continuing to menu items that are served today.  You might even enjoy reading the cowboy poems that are included.   You are sure to discover some favorites you will want to make among the many recipes.  Over 150 recipes are included.

Construction workers have been working like crazy since mid September, 2016.  “These building are going to look like they were made in Dubois over a period of time. They’ll be new, so they’ll have a little bit of a sparkle, but you will not think you are in any other place other than a western town.” – Jeff Sussman, Property Owner.  It is still unknown what business will got into the new buildings.  They are expected to be finished building in early December.
